The purpose of the MAF Center for Advanced Manufacturing Excellence (CAME), a 501c3 organization, is to facilitate the development of an educated, skilled, trained and certified advanced manufacturing workforce for world class manufacturers;  conduct research of interest to manufacturers; and provide scholarships to promote manufacturing careers.

TRADE Meeting in Tallahassee

The TRADE quarterly meeting was held in Tallahassee on August 12 for program managers and guest speakers in the TRADE Consortium. As part of the meeting, participants explored the Advanced Manufacturing Training Center at Tallahassee Community College and experimented with soldering and virtual welding. Attendees also heard from 3 students who have completed the TRADE program at TCC and their career endeavors in manufacturing.





Intro to Manufacturing Online Course

The MAF Center is very excited to share the launch of the online course:Into to Manufacturing! This course can be used as a digital download for educators to use in classrooms or as an online course for individuals (must meet TRADE eligibility). The course is completely free of cost and is a wonderful tool to introduce the industry of manufacturing. The course looks at careers, certifications, resources and more. The Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP), a program of the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), has funded a new center in Florida dedicated to helping the state’s small and medium-size manufacturers innovate and grow. and Sector Strategy Approach Services

CAME is working on a grant with CareerSource Florida to provide business intelligence on the advanced manufacturing sector.  This will include the kinds of businesses that make up that sector, the companies in Florida that fall into that category, their workforce and training needs, and trends that will affect how their partners provide services and resources to them. 4-17-15 Manufacturing Institute is nearing goal of 500,000 certifications issued within 5 years. Since 2011, more than 419,000 skills certificates have been awarded.
